Coffee production at Fairview Estates

Coffee farming is quickly becoming one of the most exciting agricultural developments along KwaZulu-Natal’s North and South Coast. Thanks to the region’s ideal climate and the rising demand for high-quality, locally grown beans, coffee is no longer just imported—it’s being cultivated right here at home.

Crowned Hornbills: Guests on Fairview

If you’ve ever been lucky enough to spot a Crowned Hornbill (Tockus alboterminatus) swooping between the trees on Fairview, you’ll know just how special these birds are. They were spotted on Fairview for the first time last year in May by Nic Jordan in his garden.

Cauliflower Farming

Growing cauliflower in KZN can be both rewarding and challenging. With the right variety and growing conditions, this cool-season crop can thrive with well-timed planting. Whether you’re growing for local markets or just to grow for your family, you want to get it right.

Pawpaw Fruit

This delicious fruit is grown right here on Fairview Estates. We have the perfect climate here in KZN, which is tropical with temperatures between 21–33°C. It is also known as the Papaya.

The fruit is soft-skinned and, small or football-sized, and oblong to pear shaped. The flesh is soft and juicy and is yellow to deep rose in colour. The centre is filled with little black seeds.

From Cane Fields to Community: The Birth of Fairview Estates 🌾

Fairview Estates has an inspiring story rooted in the heart of the North Coast, from its early days as a sugar cane farm to the vibrant farming estate it is today. Recently, we invited all our Fairview families to witness a traditional cane fire, a bittersweet moment that marked the end of an era. Nic Jordan, one of the original founders of Fairview, wanted to share this nostalgic experience with our new generation of Fairview farmers, knowing it would be the last cane fire as Fairview transitions fully into a residential farming estate. Now, instead of cane fields, our lands flourish with macadamias, coffee, cows, and more!
